What can you expect from each session?
Exposure to wise practices in newcomer education
During each session, we'll share wise practices in the field of newcomer education. We won’t just talk about concepts; we’ll showcase specific teacher moves, sample lesson plans, and recommended reading lists for instructional content you can use with your newcomer students.Â
Learning with and from your peers.
Each interactive session gives you space to listen and learn alongside your peers. Connect with educators who are also going the extra mile to serve their newcomer students, be affirmed as you share your own experiences, and learn what's worked for others. Â
Practical tools and time to experiment.
These sessions are more than just presentations. We'll also share practical tools and strategies that you will have time to experiment with, as you think about your own unique student and classroom needs--think of it as mini "lab" time!
We know you care deeply about your newcomer students.
When you invest in your own practice, you help your students feel supported and see school as somewhere they are accepted and safe. This is hard work--and you are not alone!
